Fund Setup
The Fund Setup wizard guides you through creating a new fund with all necessary configuration, accounts, and initial data.
Accessing Fund Setup
- Navigate to Funds from the organization dashboard
- Click "Create Fund" button
- The Fund Setup wizard will open
Setup Wizard Overview
The fund setup process consists of 5 steps:
- Basic Details - Fund information and configuration
- Bank Accounts - Operating bank accounts
- Accounting & Fees - Chart of accounts and fee structure
- Initial Investors - Optional initial investors
- Review & Submit - Final review and creation
Step 1: Basic Details
Required Information

Fund Name:
- Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "Alpha Growth Fund")
- This will be displayed throughout the system

Fund Code:
- Auto-generated from the fund name
- Format: Uppercase with hyphens (e.g., "ALPHA-GROWTH")
- Can be unlocked and customized
- Must be unique within your organization

Fund Type:
- Select the type of fund
- Options may include: Equity Fund, Bond Fund, Balanced Fund, etc.

Currency:
- Select the base currency for the fund
- Common options: BDT, USD, EUR, etc.
- This affects all financial calculations

Start Date:
- Effective date for the fund
- Used as the fund's inception date
- Cannot be changed after creation
Tips
- Use clear, descriptive fund names
- Keep fund codes consistent with your naming convention
- Ensure the start date is accurate (affects historical reporting)
Step 2: Bank Accounts
Adding Bank Accounts
Add one or more bank accounts for fund operations:

Click "Add Bank Account"

Fill in the account details:
- Bank Name: Name of the bank
- Account Number: Bank account number
- Routing Number: Bank routing/transit number
- Account Type: Operating, Reserve, etc.
- Currency: Account currency (usually matches fund currency)

Click "Add" to add the account

Repeat for additional accounts
Bank Account Requirements
- At least one bank account is required
- Account numbers must be unique
- Routing numbers must be valid
- Currency should match fund currency (BDT for BDT funds)
Step 3: Accounting & Fees
Chart of Accounts
The system automatically generates a standard chart of accounts including:
- Asset Accounts: Cash, Investments, Receivables
- Liability Accounts: Payables, Accrued Expenses
- Equity Accounts: Fund Capital, Retained Earnings
- Income Accounts: Investment Income, Fees
- Expense Accounts: Management Fees, Operating Expenses
Fee Configuration
Configure fund fees:
- Management Fee: Annual management fee percentage
- Performance Fee: Performance fee structure (if applicable)
- Other Fees: Additional fee types
Review
- Review the generated chart of accounts
- Verify fee structures
- Note: Accounts can be modified after fund creation
Step 4: Initial Investors (Optional)
Adding Initial Investors
You can optionally add initial investors during setup:

Click "Add Investor"

Select an existing investor or create a new one

Enter initial investment details:
- Investment Amount: Initial investment amount
- Investment Date: Date of initial investment
- Payment Method: How payment was received

Click "Add" to add the investor

Repeat for additional investors
Skipping This Step
- This step is optional
- You can add investors after fund creation
- Click "Skip" to proceed without initial investors
Step 5: Review & Submit
Review Information
Before submitting, review all entered information:
- Basic Details: Verify fund name, code, type, currency, start date
- Bank Accounts: Confirm all bank account information
- Accounting: Review chart of accounts structure
- Investors: Verify initial investors (if any)
Validation
The system will validate:
- All required fields are completed
- Fund code is unique
- Bank accounts are valid
- Dates are logical
- No duplicate entries
Submitting
- Review all information carefully
- Click "Create Fund" to finalize
- Wait for confirmation
- You'll be redirected to the fund overview page
After Fund Creation
Once the fund is created:
- Fund appears in your funds list
- Chart of accounts is set up
- Bank accounts are configured
- Initial investors are added (if specified)
- Fund is ready for operations
Next Steps
After fund creation, you can:
- Add Portfolio Transactions: Start recording investments
- Process Initial Investments: Complete investor unit purchases
- Run First EOD: Process the first end-of-day
- Configure Settings: Adjust fund-specific settings
Troubleshooting
Setup Errors
If you encounter errors:
- Fund Code Already Exists: Choose a different fund code
- Invalid Bank Account: Verify account and routing numbers
- Date Errors: Ensure dates are valid and logical
- Validation Errors: Check all required fields are filled
Common Issues
- Cannot Proceed to Next Step: Check for validation errors
- Bank Account Not Saving: Verify all required fields
- Investor Not Found: Create investor first or skip this step
